I recently finished my first book in French, after a couple of years of Duolingo (which I'd like to cancel at some point, but I'm under some peer pressure to keep on using it), namely a collection of stories of Le Petit Nicolas by René Goscinny (an edition with translations for less common words and phrases). I really liked the stories and I could understand most sentences quite well and guess the meaning of the rest.

Can you recommend other easy French texts to me? Of course Le Petit Prince by Saint-Exupéry is on my list (and my bookshelf already), but I'd appreciate some more inspiration. Bonus points for non-male authors.

I have 2 books that can maybe get you level (but euh... check before ? Just in case....)

35 kilos d'espoir - D'Anna Gavalda.
The writer, she is not an excellent one when I think about it now, but the story was my favorite during all my secondary and high school (between my 12 and 18 years old, about)
It is okay for 12 years old and more

The second one, is a lot easier :
L'œil du Loup - Daniel Pennac
The writer is famous because he write book for children.
This one, I discovered it when I was 8 and it was my favorite one for a long time...
I remember the little 8 years old me, finished the book way before the classwork on it begin...

I recommand maybe to start with Daniel Pennac Book (the one I recommand or not) because he write book for very young child (6-12 years)
And if you are comfortable maybe try the Anna Gavalda one ?
But : the one I recommand is the only (as I know) that is for young teenager. The others ones I read in the past were a lot more hards and big to read.

I don't know your level at all, I hope I didn't choose too low....
