trans bathroom stuff, asking for advice
edit: thanks everyone for the advice and encouragement! that helped a lot!i did end up using the women's restroom and of course it went fine! i used the bathroom while stopping for fast food and later when stopping for gas. first was segregated but single stall and had to wait for someone but that was fine. second ended up having just two stalls but i didn't have to wait. i had planned on stopping somewhere busier like a truck stop but it ended up this way. i was ready to bail out if i was uncomfortable but i didn't need to
so overall, i was definitely more worried than i needed to be but hearing people's strategies was really helpful! and now i feel a lot more confident going forward :3
original post:
so i'm going on a road trip tomorrow, and i was wondering does anyone have advice on using public bathrooms as a transfem/enby like me?
until now i've boymoded and kept using the men's bathroom. but i'm at the point in my transition where i'm not sure that's a good idea anymore especially with light summer clothes
unfortunately i'll be spending most of the time driving through the red states of indiana and ohio though only on major interstates
i usually get gendered female by strangers especially if i don't have to talk. i'm lucky to be short (5'5"/165cm) and have small hands so i think i kind of pass as female but i haven't really used the women's bathroom outside of queer spaces
so what do others do in my situation? both in general and for those who know what i look like
