As trans myself, I can't tell how much I am confused to see North Amrican trans and non binary folks ask for advice to use bathrooms.

I mean : is this what we are expecting in France if people continue to vote for right-wings asshole?
Is this the questions we are going to asks next year ? Or in 7 years ?

I can't pretend I never had this question ten years ago, when I start my transition. But, at least, it was like a lot of us, when we get in the "between two gender" appearence, when the hormones effects start but slowly.
It was already a stupid question, because in France, we were not that stupid about "who is in which bathrooms".

It is just... public bathrooms ?

We talk about a room with many little space that can lock individually
We are not asking people to lock themselves in the WC with strangers but they act like they have to.

We talk about that little space were people are sooo dirty that we don't want to stay much long in here
(well, I can't say about others countries, but in France, public bathroom are... more than dirty, it is like going directly in the butthole of hundreds of people in the same time. No joke)
Clean or not, we are not going to stay long anyway.

I know I know, it is not really a "bathrooms problem", it is about control and discrimination
It is about forbidding and marginalizing trans and NB people
And the bathrooms were just a step before the others stuffs

Those shitty people are so sure about their right that they don't see how ridiculous they are
And I am sure that a lot of them never use public bathrooms.
They feel "Unsafe in the bathrooms" because maybe they'll cross a trans person once in their life.

Those people are dangerous, not only because of the transphobia, but because they are listen.
One day, if they decide that they feel unsafe about anything concerning trans people, they know they have already win.

Disclaimer : I am sometimes bad in english grammar so, to be clear, I am not telling that trans and nb people are ridiculous about asking bathrooms questions

It is the whole situation that is ridiculous.
And it could be funny to mock those ridiculous little shit, but people are hurt, there are victims, because of that shitty nonsense

@poupou24_ 10 years ago... Even just 3-4 years ago, it was absolutely something to laugh at. I made the choice based mostly on which was less likely to lead to awkward situations. After a year, I used the women's consistently and no one cared.

But with states seeking life imprisonment for using the "wrong" restroom twice, it's not funny anymore. They want to destroy our lives over it. They want to make it so dangerous to be ourselves in public that we de-transition or leave.

And, yes, they are pathetic. Every video you see posted is of some totally normal situation where a cis white man has gone into the women's restroom to harass someone and half the time that someone isn't even trans. I saw one this last week where it was just a father helping his little girl use the bathroom. He even knocked on the door to make sure no women were in there before he took her in. But then a big cis white guy had to come in (to the wrong bathroom!) just to yell at him.

These laws are all because insecure people value their anger over the safety, security, or even the lives of other people.

That, and it gives misogynistic men something to do that makes them feel like they're a hero for being an asshole. That's always popular.
