Long, sad story of antitransmasculine parents There’s a friend of my older twins in middle school named E— who I will pronoun as she/her because that’s what she currently goes by. Recently, she came out to her parents as trans masc and said her pronouns were he/they and her name was Noah.

My twins were excited and made the change flawlessly (as kids do) and I was happy to see so much self-discovery. Her parents, however, are fucking trash.

Her father said he “doesn’t believe in that stuff” (which, okay then I’m done with you since I am “that stuff.”) Her mother said she’ll try it for a week but then put her in “emergency counseling” (with a non-queer-positive counselor) and started buying her frilly dresses and trying to teach her makeup.

My twins said that she has finally begun to seem happy when she came out, but her parents made it SOO hard that immediately after she was actually in a much darker space than before.

After about a week, I asked my kids “how is Noah? Have you talked to him about everything?” And my daughter snapped at me and said “Don’t call her Noah! She’s going by E— again!”

The response caught me off-guard, so I asked about it. Apparently, she went hard back to she/her because her parents made her life a living hell, and now doesn’t want anyone even to mention it.

It is so fucking crushing to me. And this woman interacts with me like nothing is wrong and I have to be civil and not scream and smack her in her bitch ass face.

And what’s awful about it to me is the mom’s assurance that “it wasn’t real” since “she just switched back so fast.”

Like you absolute fucking garbage. She’s in fucking middle school, what fucking choice does she have? You shithead piece of shit!

I think and ask about E— all the time because I hate so much to see someone surrounded by people like my gay enby child and still not able to be themselves. And I told her that she can be Noah and he/him in our house.

But she asked me to respect her name and pronouns, because “being a boy didn’t make anything any easier and made everything harder.”

That’s the worst part: That she already believes it’s true.

Long, sad story of antitransmasculine parents @Damselfly it is the kids version of my coming out, (I was already adult)
I had to makes them believe it was a mistake to have my like back like "ok ok I was wrong sorry, can I go back to my appartement please ?"
(I was not hostage but not a no-hostage too. Like an uncomfortable mix between the 2 states)
Well, it take me like 6 months to be more prepared to come back with another coming out and, this time, some stuff to defense myself, like some informations etc.

This young baby is so young but maybe they need some stuff to know better how to deal with it by themself but, for later or when they will be ready, some informations and stuff, and backup plans, to fight back
(In french we use the term "arguments" but in english it means something like "fight" and it is not what I mean.
I want to say, we need to have some clue, some stuff to say back when we receive some insult and bad reactions)

It is good you are here to let them be themselves. But they need their parents and in my opinion, sadly, they are not here for their child. They are here for what their child looks like in public, what representation they give about their family (like mine)
And it can be good, with or without queerness...
