@box464 Hmm, I feel like the answers are slightly biased... Why not both? A thin layer before toasting for a nice golden toast, and more on top for the taste. Also, as a disclaimer: I don't have a toaster oven, so haven't tried this method.
Toaster ovens are nice, tho they keep trying to cram more features into them. It can be a small oven, a toaster, an air fryer and some can be dehydrators.
