So much Discord discussion today! I'll just throw my own personal experience into the ring here.

Discord has gamification built in that is fun - cute animations, flair, etc. you can buy or earn. If you're looking for that, I don't have options for you, sorry.

I've used @zulip for a few projects I check in on, and liked it enough that I have considered recommending it at work. It's a combination of a forum and chat room.

@box464 @zulip Honestly for me the animations and, flairs, badges and others on Discord just make the interface feel cluttered. I think it's a good monetization scheme though, much better than relying on ads and selling user data, but I like having a clean interface better.
