I'm re-tailoring my resume for a web job (instead of gamedev focus) and I think I'm just gonna call myself "Multidisciplinary programmer" or is that too arrogant ?

@grifdail I frame that as "programmer with a broad experience".

If you want to speak the language of recruiters, you can call yourself "T-shaped"

@grifdail @jk I love the "also known as" section of the Wikipedia page though. Yes hello, I am a Renaissance Developer. Do you need a technical craftsperson for this job?

@Varpie @grifdail Yeah some of these terms are beyond ridiculous, which is why I spell it out when asked.

It's kind of impossible to precisely convey the richness and complexity of one's experience in some cookie-cutter term. At some point you need an introduction paragraph.

I mean… I currently work on micro-services back-ends but before that I worked on fault-tolerant embedded automotive software and frequently wore high-vis vests and safety shoes at work. Before that I've built device drivers and mobile applications, Drupal plugins and Debian Preseed scripts, among many other things. How would that fit in a single word? On LinkedIn I've choosen "Programmer" as my tagline, it doesn't tell the whole story but it's vague enough.

Explaining your life story to recruiters is a perilous balancing act sometimes.

@jk @Varpie Yup. That's the part that pain me the most: Convey your skill and experience as a set of bullshit keyword for somebody to scan through as if it was products in a supermarket.
