Found this isometric tile set by Artyom Zagorskiy online ( artyom-zagorskiy.itch.io/isometric-medieval-pack )

And I was wondering how we could emulate that art style in 3d, especially the outline ?

My first idea was baking the outline in the texture. Two problem with that: The outline line won't stay at a consistent with + Doesn't really work with circular items like the three and windmill.

Second idea was Wireframe mesh. Problem is you can't pick the width of the wireframe.

The classique "Duplicated and scaled mesh with flipped normal" won't work either as it's only show outlines OUTSIDE the object. Here we want them even inside the object.

A more realistic solution is the classic "post process edge détection", using the depth and the normal map (and additional "creative controll pass" ?)

A final solution I thought about was rendering the lines as billboard. It's more expense but also probably inconvenient.
