Pol rant, transphobia, betrayal
The whole "trans people have gone too far" thing makes me absolutely furious.And it makes me even angrier because just a few years ago, I was still a cis person who knew next to nothing about us, so I remember exactly what I was hearing.
And, oh surprise, really (pull out the biggest irony you can find), what I was hearing in public discourse, aside from shitty stereotypes and increasing attacks from fascist assholes notably the last decade, was: ALMOST NOTHING.
Most people close to me, the only times in their lives they've heard about trans people, and that's as far back as I can remember, is almost exclusively during the periods when we become the political obsession of shitbags and those bastards talk about it over and over. Otherwise, we're just one of the unknown mysteries of the universe.
So to have the monumental gall to come up with "yes, but in fact trans people somehow deserve the image and treatment they get because they've pushed their visibility and their goals too far", especially when it comes not from right-wing or far-right losers but from the people who are supposed to be with us politically, or even worse from some trans people themselves, just fuck off, and certainly not the way you like it.
