I understand nothing at the lore of Star Wars' last trilogy.

I mean, just so many events happens from nowhere, out of the blue that every time I think I've understood what's happening in the timeline, they release something (book, comics or whatever) which tells me "nope, you didn't".

No wonder I've lost interest in it pretty quickly. Though it didn't helped the movies disappointed me a huge lot in the first place.

@transcendentempress That's because there is no lore. Episode VII is just Episode IV, but ordered on Temu. Episode VIII is just a big failure, and Episode IX only exists because one director felt responsible for correcting another director's mistakes.

@Noriko @transcendentempress Yeah, they’re making shit up as they go, like an ill-prepared GM. I have always been a fan of solid world-building and Star Wars never delivered.

Like, if you want to use political stuff in your story, you need to have a clear idea how politics in your setting work not just throw buzzwords like Senate or Council around and trust your audience doesn’t know or care how this stuff works either.
I spent like a week building the political infrastructure for my ttrpg system but they can’t be bothered to do the same for their multi-million dollar project?

And then there are the gaping plot holes, like a galaxy that is about to be swallowed by black holes that inexplicably appear everywhere you stop and look for a moment if the things happening make sense, connection-wise.
What, no room in the budget for a f-ing pinboard to f-ing organize your timeline?

And another thing, they had an extended universe where fans and other authors cleaned up much up the mess until it halfways started to make sense and then they kicked them to the curb and declared this plethora of free maintenance work null and void, so they can mush it up with their vague bs again. Midi-Chloridians, are you f-ing kidding me?! (yes, still hung up on this one)

Yeah, well, sorry for the nerd eruption. Shoddy storytelling annoys me. I could go on and on because there is so much more I find annoying about the crappy world-building here, but, yeah …
