Follower Welcome... (?)OK, got a request from @antykyles and on the surface seems both "interesting and odd..." The account as of what I see here is about 14 hours old. There's very little content. They've interacted with someone I know (recognise), and seem to at least on the surface be doing interesting things...
BUT... It's a brand new account, for an online massive multiplayer thing... I guess. I've not interacted with them. And their account is hidden on mastodon.social.
That said, it didn't seem clear from what I could say that things are "bad" just a lot of, "bit of caution here"... But a lot of indication of that. I hope my, "hey what they are saying looks kind of cool," is the reality, and the caution is because they failed to understand the Mastodon/Fediverse experience.
A lot won't show up, if someone is doing stuff intentionally bad though (and know how to hide it reasonably well).
@JigmeDatse Hi, I was just searching for other people talking about this account (and their alt) and you showed up ! Just wanted to let you know that I refused their follow request and got a new one within hours. I also got follow request from obvious alt account (same name or linking to other accounts as back up). I have decided to block them as I am picky with my followers but you may decide differently. (also send a report for spam if they get too pushy)
@just_chill I've not seen anything. I'm not really that picky myself. I have follow requests turned on for blocking obvious obvious questionable ones, but mostly so that I can send the welcome when I approve the vast majority of requests.
I kind of want to be able to reach a broad audience with my watch party stuff. So that's part of why I'm not picky.
I feel (and felt from the beginning) that they're "sketchy" but more in the sense of, "might have bad ideas as to what things are good ideas and what are not."
Profile is hidden on mastodon.social. So even there it's considered, "a bit sketchy". Yeah, still only the one direct post (post that's general, or a mention to point out something to a person). A few replies, and several boosts. So not active either.
