i also loved the characters too. cloud reminded me of lightning who i really loved from final fantasy 13 when i played that as a teenager. that was my first final fantasy and i really loved it but never really played another one for many years after i saw all the hate it got. i think they probably based her on him which is really cool. cloud, lightning. brooding ass kicker with a sad soul. makes sense to me. aerith was also great and really cute. loved barret's passion against tyranny. i think the character i connected with least was tifa but she was still pretty cool
