@transcendentempress imo a domain-focused distro is less helpful than a good base and installing the tools you need. however, they are nice for convenience so I'll plug Fedora Security Lab edition fedoraproject.org/labs/security
@0x4d6165 Yeah, something more self-customed is what I'll tend toward, but in this context I'll only do it as a second step, since for now I'm mostly looking for something all-in-one just long enough to familiarize myself with the various tools in question.
@transcendentempress I think I already saw a few good recommendations for specialized distros in your mentions, so I won't add to that ^^
But on the other hand what kind of forensics are we talking about here, do you have specific use-cases in mind? If that's the case maybe you don't need a specialized distro, and you can build a useful toolset in any distribution with reasonably up to date packages ☺ (I'm partial to Arch personally :P)
@aearil Oh it's more of me wanting to broadly begin to approach the IT forensics topic rather than something specific, hence why I'm looking for OOTB tooled distros.
And yeah, I thought too about following the Arch path for this one.😄
