22th time the charm apparently :3
switched back to Windows XP, with integrated AHCI drivers from nLite and a bootable Windows XP USB key, mixing the 2 sources during stage 2, now rebooting to stage 3

at last, Windows XP installed on a SATA AHCI hard drive ​:bulbtriumph:​
computer screen showing the system property screen of Windows XP SP3, running on a Intel Core2 Duo 2.13GHz CPU and 3GB of RAM, next to it there is the Device Manager window showing a bunch of unknown peripheral not installed but is highlighting "Intel ICH8 SATA AHCI Controller" as installed

welp, that didn’t worked, again

will try other things later, stayed a bit on XP and damn, it’s the fastest i felt XP being in my entire life (before i had to install .NET 4 ofc ​:blabcat:​ )

31st try, i finally found the problem, it was the RAM 😭

but not as in "the RAM is broken and get corrupt"

as in, there is too much RAM

... so Windows Vista, very well know at the time to have high memory requirements

... is stuck during the install process with too much RAM ​:blabcat:​

and the too much RAM is 3GB apparently, that get stuck at "completing instalation" during stage 2

going down to 2GB trow a error at stage 2 about components

and at 1GB, it goes trought and i'm now at the OOBE

tried putting back the RAM, didn't work, i tried to re-install Vista but it gave me a error at stage 2, the same one that it gave me with 2GB : "windows could not configure one or more system components", whatever that means

so back to square 1 i guess ​:blabcat:​

@transcendentempress tried Home Premium and Profesionnal, didn’t seemed to matter tbh (and tried SP1 and SP2 too)
