The concern here is that old search engines can give you links and you can go into them to verify the content. AI taking over our search engines hides the sources of information, forcing us to blindly trust the AI and wherever it got its information from.
jason @singingpigs.online my wife googled “united airlines customer service" the other day and the Al summary seemed legit enough so she called the number that it listed. she got like 30 seconds into the call before they were asking for her BANK INFO. a scammer had gotten their number prominent enough that the Al grabbed it. October 9, 2024 at 9:09 PM 23 Everybody can reply 11K reposts 157 quotes 3.1K likes (349 = 1.3K (RN o jason @singingpigs.online - 14d I've been worried for a long time about Al getting stuff wrong just cause it's not very good, but | hadn't even considered people gaming the system to *push* bad info into Al summaries (which I'm sure is what happened here). this is truly dangerous
