as someone who is trans, enby and also periodically identifies as a man, can lib/radfems fuck off with their "you're trans and male so you're an oppressor" horseshit.

misogynistic ideas can be embedded in anybody, but comparing trans men to cis men as if they are somehow same and don't suffer from gender oppression of the patriarchy themselves is frankly very ignorant.

@mynameistillian I was on board until the second paragraph. I understand what you're trying to get across and I agree that trans men have a uniquely complicated position in patriarchal society. However...

For those of us who are stealth, we assimilate into cis culture and pass ourselves off as cis men. Even if you aren't stealth, if you can pass and aren't outwardly disclosing or advertising your trans status, you will be assumed cis.

At that point, I think "gender oppression of the patriarchy" is the wrong way to frame the issue as it pertains to binary and/or stealth trans men, which is just societal expectations of men and toxic masculinity. These symptoms of patriarchy are identical to what cis men struggle with. Furthermore, stealth/binary trans men can be complicit in patriarchal sexism, etc. I will be the first to admit that I started participating in casual sexism when I first went stealth out of insecurity.

I feel like this "everyone but cis men" rhetoric draws an implicit equivalence between the experiences of trans men under patriarchy, and the experiences of women and/or nonbinary people under patriarchy.

Categorization by oppression instead of identification leads to paradoxical associations, which may discredit our actual gender identities/presentations. It feels like it just groups all AFAB+trans AMAB people together against cis men. I am not comfortable with that.

Just my two cents.

@mynameistillian @stealthx I agree with you: there are theoretically opportunities to bootstrap class consciousness from gender consciousness and gender solidarity; strong role models for men, and not just emotional cowards with big guns; but I don't think you've dated cis men on Tinder.
