Let’s clear up some misconceptions.

Degrowth does NOT mean condemning millions of people in the Global South to starvation.

Degrowth is about social justice and climate justice. This means allowing the Global South to achieve something close to parity with a Global North that is sharply reducing consumption and energy use.

On the other hand, a continuation of endless economic growth, i.e. Business As Usual, DOES mean condemning hundreds of millions in the Global South to eco-climate disasters, drought, and starvation.

Civilization faces a critical choice. Make drastic changes NOW in how we live (Degrowth) or have catastrophic changes forced upon us by the ecosystem we live in (Business As Usual). The question is not whether things will change, but how and when those changes are made.

@breadandcircuses Now that I think about it, comrade, there are Southern climate justice activists on this platform. One opportunity among others would be tackling racism and sharing posts by notorious BIPOC activists. In terms of diversity, we've got enough white people talking about climate change here, including leading scientists, but building bridges with Southern CJ activists would bring a breath of fresh air to your followers.
