Distro hopping my desktop from NixOS, it's just too much hassle. I wanted to go to Arch but the installation looks so intimidating and it sounds really complex and i need something that an eight-year-old can figure out how to operate because plurality shenanigans so i'm going with Manjaro maybe? It has a GUI installer at least, but it seems like "Arch, But With More Handholding"

I haven't really used linux in any capacity since i was at university twenty years ago and i really don't know what i'm doing anymore so that appeals to me but also

i need to be reassured that my tech friends won't judge me.

because i feel like i should be able to figure this stuff out on my own

but the last time i did that i lost my mbr and nearly bricked my desktop

I honestly just use it for Steam and FFXIV and socials but my Windows install is fucked, i don't even want to do whatever it is that people specifically use linux for i just want my desktop back and i'm dumb and broke

@Willowbriar One of the most accessible these days if you just want something that works well oob, Zorin OS. It's one of the most hand holding, has a default look very Windows-y, even has a very convenient and user-friendly Wine integration if you need to use Windows softs on Linux (Wine's still Wine though, so compatibility issues happen, but it's well integrated so you don't have to think about it much).

Steam won't be a problem cuz native Linux version + Proton for handling non-native games (just need to activate it for every games in Steam's options). For FF XVI, I don't actually know much since I've never tried the game on Linux, the Windows installer could be handled by the Wine part, but maybe there a better way to install it?
