@olivvybee my go to method is: get into a hobby, go to a place where other hobbyist gather. If you don't know how to start a conversation, ask a hobbyist a question. Since you already are at the hobby thing, they are most likely doing or showing a thing, ask them how it's made and/or what is the advantage of it. Or you could talk about the past experience of the hobbyist. You don't have to know anything about the hobby, but you need to pick one you are genuinely interested in.
