CW: death penalty European friends are again horrified by the barbaric racism that we just accept in the US.

🇪🇺👩🏼And Black death row inmates are 7 times more likely to be innocent? 7?! 🤯

🇪🇺👩🏼And in this case... even the prosecutor asked for a pardon because the man is innocent, the victim's family asked too, and all the Dem Supreme Court judges?

🇺🇸🧔🏿‍♂️Yep.

🇪🇺👩🏼Then... then why did they execute him?

@mekkaokereke that's just murder. Isn't it? I mean, this would probably spark protests in Europe. Sure, we protest everything...but this is insane. How could the people in that prison go through with it. I'd rather quit.

@gabriel @allancavanagh This isn't a cultural difference. Letting the State routinely kill innocent people hasn't been normalized by – I don't know how to translate it – what we French people call "headstuffing".

Claiming that we would protest against it whereas a Black-led movement has filled the governor's mailbox over an empty sense of cultural superiority is, well, ethnocentric at best. It's especially problematic because another innocent Black man's execution is scheduled by the end of the week, over lazy science.

Killing Black people is an institutional problem. France has its share of racism too: for the record, Romanian women have to beg with their children because they're homeless, but somehow that's because they're "using" them.

That's a Trump-level blood libel, but white people have fallen for it for more than a decade.
