meta ig@transcendentempress people thought the people who are developing sharkey were adding something to the software that people thought might be unethical by integrating stripe for age verification. unethical for privacy reasons but ultimately might be a positive so people can identify minors more easily which would be a good thing. kind of trading a negative for a positive. instead of people being mature enough to talk about their concerns about their privacy so they could talk like rational adults some people took it as their cue to be ugly and nasty. since julia is working on sharkey and she's my friend i did not appreciate that people were treating her and the others working on sharkey like that
