The inescapable truth about tech DOT lgbt was that they were not on my radar at all until one of their mods started lying about me and my project and began boosting and sharing conspiracy theories about both.
I attempted to resolve it with this mod in private but they refused to listen to me and continued to spread misinformation, which lead to the massive racist backlash of last summer that got me harassed, threatened and DDoS’d.
They are not listed on #TheBadSpace because of some grudge I have against them, but their own actions which they continue to display to this day.
I haven’t personally added an instance to TBS in over two years.
The community added them to the listing because of their demonstrated behavior of constantly attacking Black and Brown people and then pretending they are not bigots.
Anyone who says otherwise is just not being honest.
There are no instances that are on #TheBadSpace that are there because they are queer. That doesn’t happen. Anyone who says this are straight up lying. Being queer in the fedi is not something the project tracks. At all.
TBS tracks bad behavior. It tracks bigots, scrappers that act without consent, and place that engage in CSAM. You know, the awful shit. Places that have a history of doing awful shit.
False positives do happen on occasion, but they are dealt with as they are reported.
So if you’re listed on TBS, at least two sources have clocked them for bad behavior.
@are0h I stumbled upon your post and I just read through the complete procedure. I feel that’s this is quite an effective way to deal with harassment but I also feel uneasy about the asymmetry in how you can get onto the list and how you get off it. To me it appears similar to US no flight lists. Some people put you there and you fight for a lifetime.
@are0h Banning people from social media these days is not something that should be a as easy as described. I can not read from the website what rules exactly apply. The things mentioned are vague enough to encourage abuse and I think that any censorship needs extra due diligence.
@are0h I feel misunderstood. Of course there is criteria and a process. I simply disagree with ist maturity and I doubt it to be fair. You might be too often harassed by white supremacists, so maybe you are not ready to see the problematic part of the current approach because the other side is more dangerous and louder. That is ok for me. I won’t push any longer. Go ahead and do what you think is right. May my words be remembered when you realize the Fediverse grossly failed.

Your pessimism about the fedi is not my problem. If you want to project your doom and gloom because you don’t want to help in any way shape or form, that is your business.
@are0h I understand where your perception of reality stems from and I won’t argue against it. I am disappointed that I am faced with "you don’t read”. When I was younger I also was with the ones with the (alleged) higher moral standards. Go ahead shaping the world around you and let me continue to suffer under this system, living in constant fear of getting deplatformed for no good reason and self-censoring what I would like to express.

By the way, you're not "self-censoring". You fear being dogpiled like on Twitter, something that TBS is meant to protect you against. On any small, friendly instance, your admin will have your back and take time addressing thé issue before e.g. in its most extreme form, a permanent account suspension. It happened to me on social.coop with mods reaching out to me several times as a quick reminder that X isn't OK.
Ro isn't deplatforming you so long as you're not a threat to Black users. Saying something inappropriate might get you blocked for good reasons, but not deplatformed.
