@transcendentempress It still works on the latest intel CPU's... Windows 98Se freaks out with much more than 2Gb of RAM, Win95 I think it freaks out with more than 512Mb (might be less).
Getting sound working on modern hardware is much less easy.
VM's, with the modern CPU extensions functionally do expose your CPU directly to the VM.
You can still boot DOS on modern CPU's. Only need BIOS support in the firmware.
