Ah, also, for it's been a while I haven't looked at it seriously, which free antivirus has the crown those days? And is it really worth replacing base Windows security stuff with it?

It's Windows Defender. Don't even joke about installing a virus scanner, they were worse than the viruses 20 years ago, they're even worse now.

Windows Defender is actually quite good... it's the best there is. If you're really suspicious of a file, upload it to VirusTotal.com

But.... we're really at the point where not windows is the correct choice now. Besides, you're transfemme, join us on the dark side ​:arch:​

@sophie Haha, don't worry, I wasn't even thinking of the crappy stuff, I was just wondering if free Kaspersky, Avast & co were anything useful these days.

As for not Windows, I game too much for ditching it on my main rigs unfortunately, and I haven't done the proper Linux testings yet to see if everything might work properly. xD

@transcendentempress @sophie On gaming, i got Framework laptop recently and just decided why not. Installed Steam and moved all my games over, and so far all of them worked just fine!
Haven't booted the old gaming coffin in months.

Long story short, it's worth trying.

@theartlav @transcendentempress Yeah Lona's not wrong. I've been running it for the past.. .umm... April 8 is the age of my filesystem. I haven't seen anything not work through Steam, Valves version of Wine seems flawless.

@sophie @theartlav Oh, yeah, it works great, one of my colleague did some testing with a Debian on a HP ZBook we have at work to see how it's handling the Intel+Nvidia GPUs combination, once the few tweakings done to ensure it was the Quadro doing the gaming job, it was running really well.
