Tech companies are desperate to convince you that laws come out of nowhere, for no reason. “I'm just a poor, innocent prisoner, who's been physically assaulted (by another inmate)”, they say to the media, leaving out that they're there in the first place for armed robbery and multiple homicides.

Any preferred-media site that begins a story with some variant of “first, the EU introduced a law,” is actively, knowingly, lying to you. It took nearly two decades of misconduct before the laws came in

@stroughtonsmith That's the most pro-prison system techbro post I've ever knowingly read. I'm really mad I've read this – what do you think you're advocating the most for?

Why are you even pro-privacy or pro-free software in the first place? Who are you these for?

@stroughtonsmith Do you know how many people here have neurodevelopmental disorders and thus are part of an overrepresented demographics in prison? 40% of prisoners have psychiatric problems.

Your local "justice" court is a few bus stops away. Go see by yourself who's actually in prisons.

@stroughtonsmith Even if this was about armed robbery, criminality is a byproduct of capitalism – whose top 1% never actually get jailed.

Zuckerberg has probably murdered millions of people. He will probably get away with it. And French sociologists have found preventive solutions against criminality, but our government is unhappy about it so its members periodically blame us for finding "excuses" to the phenomenons we're trying to explain.
