i know americans say this all the time but i'll always be fascinated by the EU being about half the size of the contiguous USA but being made up of entire countries instead of states of one country. like y'all can just hop on a train and be in another country in a matter of hours.

granted, i live near canada so i can go to one other country fairly quickly, but y'all can just pass through a whole country on the way to a different, even further away country. and obviously state vs country is all social constructs etc but it's still just wild to me

like, is it reasonable for me to assume that most EU folks have been to a country other than the one they are from?

EU residents, how many EU countries have you been within the borders of?

@goaty it is even somewhat common for middleschooler to visit another country with their school (field trip kinda thing). wealth and location will be the biggest factors obviously, but it's definitely a thing teacher try really hard to make happen.
