The cycle:

1. For ~2 years: Not doing anything to help Black folk. Actively ignoring them. Pushing back hard on their most innocuous requests.

2. For ~1 year: Denying Black folks' expertise and warnings. Gaslighting them. Downplaying the risks. Lots of saying, "It won't happen!" And "It won't be that bad!" Avoiding all easy, common sense things that would avoid bad outcomes.

3. For ~6 months: Blacksplaining to Black folks. Saying "We'll fix it after the election!"

4. Despair! 🤡

@mekkaokereke Honestly I don't know about the abstention rates in the US but here in France, white people seem to abstain en masse instead of voting for a vaguely racist, vaguely antisemitic social democracy composed of several political parties that seldom betray each other, and only see each other's drawbacks.

This is a very vague and general analysis because I'm no one to say that such controversial political party (such as the French greens party) has worked internally to fix itself or that conversely they'd be more busy arguing with each other than fixing what doesn't work, even though I can safely say that we'd smoke the right by making stats a mainstream component of our narrative, but I also feel that we're too quickly dismissing abstention as exit and not as voice, against our lack of trust toward this social democracy.

Racism and antisemitism could be driving white abstention. 🤡
