I only care about what other Chromium-based non-Chrome browsers are doing. For example, Firefox is quoted to have said they won't "turn off support for Manifest V2," which is a big deal. I just want my uBlockO to work!
@birdpoof@arstechnica I guess it will mostly depend on Chromium itself. Unfortunately I doubt that the big browsers will fork it and maintain a version supporting V2, so whenever Chromium decides to get rid of it, they will likely all fall (except Firefox and Safari, which are the only major browsers that aren't based on Chromium these days, although I wouldn't be surprised if Safari also goes to V3)
