I love @Codeberg, it is such a good alternative to capitalist scamforges. I feel they won't betray me in any way.
They wont exploit my work for their own purpose in contradiction to my own good with crappy codding assistant algorithm such as Github Copilot.
Yet the quality of the service they provide is fairly comparable to those.
In other words, You get the benefits, without the risk of being screwed up, because they are an association you can participate (financially or with giving them some of your time), therefore the platform can partly belong to you.
Please consider to such alternatives and leave Gitlab or Github.
@stupeflo@Codeberg What's wrong with GitLab? As far as I know, they are also pushing for positive changes, such as better merge requests between servers using ActivityPub.
@Varpie same problem with github, You never know when the company will be sold to a malicious actor such as Microsoft, but it might happen sooner or later. And then crappy stuff you didn't sign in for will happen with difficulties to be able to opt-out
@stupeflo If it's your own server (which is often the case with Gitlab), you can just not update it. I think one of the main issue with GitHub is also that it's very centralized, which is a lot less of an issue with Gitlab. If they sell, it will likely be a Gitea redo, where a non-profit will create a fork (which is how Codeberg came to be).
