@Varpie@nixCraft It's not, really. There's a number of formats that have been taking over that are all different ways of stuffing as many chips into a space as possible.
@baishen@nixCraft M.2 is the go to format for the SSD holding your OS, but there is usually only one (sometimes 2) slot(s) on a PCB, whereas you can easily have more 2.5" SSDs. My biggest surprise here is that we haven't moved to a 1.5" or something that would allow better case management, even though clearly most of it is just air.
@baishen@nixCraft Well, consumers and businesses, I don't think office computers use a different type of SSD compared to gaming ones for instance. But yeah, that doesn't apply to data centers.
