@gameboycamera Out of curiosity, why not an MNT Pocket Reform? (This isn't my favorite MNT product so I'm unlikely to get one in the short term, but it seems to be in a ~similar form factor doesn't it?)
@h5e@cwebber@octodon.social@gameboycamera Hmm I haven't looked up its specs; I crave for MNT's modularity and sustainability, and honestly, the Pyra minicomputer is closer to my price range (but ugly as sin)
@oceane@cwebber@octodon.social@gameboycamera there are a few different trims (also I think there’s a successor now). It’s already a few years old but it does okay for some web browsing or light gaming.
@h5e@gameboycamera The reviews are good, but honestly I couldn't even buy one handheld device; this one would probably be my favorite in this price range though.
There's also the Beepy which is even cheaper, so of course that depends on what you're looking for – this looks like a cool ultraportable Emacs device to be honest.
@oceane@gameboycamera I wanted some more common hardware for longevity so that’s why I picked the gpd back then. Although I didn’t have much luck installing a linux flavour, the “official” distribution was already out of date when I got mine and a newer one had all kind of driver issues so it runs Windows 11 currently. Undoubtedly the linux situation will be a bit better now but I’m okay with windows for now.
@h5e@gameboycamera Honestly I've hosted a domestic predator and he would use my ThinkPad T60; he got used to Fedora/i3 because he could run more programs at once, and it wouldn't heat up the room.
