@ChrisMayLA6 Two questions come to mind when I read this: 1) How can a policy that does this to people be called conservative and not inhumane? 2) How can someone look in the mirror every morning and know that they have done this to others without feeling disgusted with themselves?
@kingsleybugarin@ralph@ChrisMayLA6 I don't want to splain you but I feel as a French person that the term we've imported from the US/UK as “conservatism” or “neoconservatism” is actually “obscurantism”. This is why I'm trying to advocate for free software in my unions, and vice-versa
All of these other terms attached to conservatism exist to muddy the waters.
Conservatism is domination of society by an aristocracy and the form the aristocracy takes changes from generation to generation. That is what is has always been.
Currently most of the worlds 'aristocrats' are not inbred blue bloods but capitalists and oligarchs but their goal is always the same.
Power, privilege and wealth for them. Servitude for us.
Universal adoption of FOSS is one small part of the process of dismantling the capitalist shit show we are living in.
Another is democratising workplaces by converting existing enterprises to employee ownership or forming cooperatives from scratch.
