Hello, trying to compress a video a client (and friend) did as a testimonial of our work together. I'd love to put it on my website but it's quite heavy and carrd only allows 64MB max.

Any suggestion?

@globcoco nextcloud ? that's not the ideal solution for you but it work well as a dropbox/external file manager. i use one with a server of 50go and a domain. it need lamp stack and separate home folder from your webroot.

That allowed me to post and share it on social network without saturing their server memory. Also you can store ton of picure and share them.

it maybe costly but nextcloud offer let tool for daily use and collaborative work.
* server 5€/m : 50go/unlimited bandwidth...
* domain 12€/year

I'm actually going to see if I have enough space with K-Drive (at Infomaniak) to put it there for now.

@globcoco @snoopy haven't tested kdrive but it should work as nextcloud. I think It's the same thing minus the huge app list of nextcloud : task, cospend (tricount), desk (trello-like), mail, contact, writer, draw.io...

Btw my nextcloud is on infomaniak and you can install it with one click or do it yourself. You can also try with /e/ OS (libre fork of Android) they give you 1go for free but you wont access every nextcloud app.

Kdrive is perfect for that. :)

Normally it should. I tested it. But it says I cannot read it online and I have to download it. Which is not what I'm trying to do here. I want people to be able to read it on my website.

Kdrive is part of other features that I use (mail, contact, task, writer but I don't use the latter).

So question, do you use both (Kdrive AND Nextcloud then)?
And do you pay for hosting it there (like 7€ per month)?

@globcoco @snoopy i just pay my infomaniak vps and the domain. It's also where i store my website, the wiki and nextcloud.

@globcoco @snoopy yeah, i think your are not completly convainced as my vidéo isn't very smooth.

Anyway i hope it gaves you some helpful idea to explore. And you will find your solution. Maybe kdrive problem is related to your video format, you can convert to a standard format. Good luck ! :D

Indeed, using Nextcloud space is a viable option... But you need to have access to a Nextcloud server for that.

Actually, it's not too expensive. With @zaclys, you can get 10GB of space (and even more : email, some online tools...) for just 10€ per year.

You could have simply upload your video there and share the link as needed.

The remained question is: I'm not sure if you can embed it in an iframe for website publishing. 🤔

@globcoco @snoopy LAMP mean Linux, Apache, Mariabd/Mysql, PHP.

The data folder in nextcloud is where you store your file (text, picture, video.). Installing it outside your webroot. Let's say you have a website : monsite.fr.

On the server, it's stored as any documents in your pc in /srv/monsite.fr that's the webroot. So you have to move srv/monsite/data outside /srv folder. For example in /home/Documents.

And its very easy to do that with nextcloud installer, it's user friendly. :)

Yes, don't use the enterprise version. You won't be able to cover those cost XD use this one. Or buy a vps in infomaniak and they will install it for free. :)
