@nileane @oceane there have not only been studies, but former employees have repeatedly confirmed that Meta's platforms now about & enable problematic content while knowingly harming & even punishing minorities & other vulnerable people.

@nileane @oceane and then there's Cambridge Analytica, and this weird "mood study" Facebook did without asking:

at this point, over nearly 20 years of this nonsense, the evidence against Meta on this topic is so overwehelming that giving them any benefit of the doubt is simply foolish and dangerous, & responding to marginalized people concerned about noticeable changes to their feed when Meta is involved by calling it a "conspiracy" borders on gaslighting.

• I wasn't trying to be provocative when I said it sounded like a conspiracy theory. It was a genuine thought.
• While I was indeed asking a question about @oceane's theory, please don't take me for an imbecile by presuming that I don't have any knowledge whatsoever on the matter.
• I'm a black trans woman, so please don't insult me by low-key accusing me of gaslighting other marginalized people, as if I wasn’t myself affected.
