My Threads and Bluesky timelines are full of people quoting some of the most hateful things just to dunk on them — stuff that I’m pretty sure most people wouldn’t have seen otherwise.
I’m suddenly less hopeful for a quote feature on Mastodon 😬
@nileane We can quote on the fediverse with other servers (like Firefish ones) and I don't see any hateful usage of this feature... I won't get any general conclusion from my sole experience, except that it is possible, at least for some people, not to turn any tool into a rocket launcher.
