@LadyDragonfly I wrote a text about this about 2 weeks ago, then I realized that I was mistaking ally-as-a-status with ally-as-a-role.

I'm not sure I'm clear?

@LadyDragonfly A friend has been misgendered in a lab and their director has replied “no, him, it's “Sir”” (in French they use binary pronouns).

He probably doesn't see himself as an ally, and he didn't try to be an ally, just to be a decent person; but we've labeled him as this in a kind of vernacular way. And maybe we should find a less loaded word.
