btw arch isn't nearly as unstable as everyone always says

since I've started using it in 2021(?) my installs only broke on the following three occasions:
- when the grub devs fucked up an update
- when my RAM broke and btrfs corrupted
- when my kernel couldn't be loaded for unknown reasons except some fatal pacman library error, i'm just too lazy to debug it

my servers worked fine on arch :)

@alina Anyway, people ought to backup their computers, and it's super easy with Syncthing, they don't need a complex backup strategy (3-2-1, 3-2-1-1-0, etc.). They will probably upgrade to a more ambitious backup strategy but Syncthing is an excellent entry point.

But the issue is, IMHO, that social media don't assume how you could use them but how they could use you; because Archlinux doesn't assume either how people should use it, because there's no desktop release, etc., it probably worsens their social media use problems by symbolically extending them to their entire operating systems (which are often interfaces with most of our work, and also with the world, especially when we're addicted to social media).

Archlinux isn't a bad operating system in itself. But it can worsen social media abuse and also legitimize (Hybels, 1995) and embody it.

@alina Sorry. It's basically a significant reason IMHO why people say Archlinux would be a bad operating system, and it isn't related to its inherent qualities but to their use of social media.

They project their use of social media on Archlinux. When this use of social media is defined by abuse, they will believe that Archlinux will be an abusive operating system. Likewise, abuse survivors can be triggered by any kind of red flag, and in some way every interaction with Archlinux in this context is felt like a red flag – as a light, but constant and thus incomprehensible trigger.

@alina My point is that Archlinux isn't a bad operating system and that people claiming it is don't actually make a point about Archlinux but about how toxic their use of social media is.
