Addiction There are 2 things that prevented me to join the ex-Bird site:
- Feeling (at times) unwelcome
- Social network addiction

So instead of doom-scrolling, I could just wrap my head around the idea that, whatever, I would end up unhappy by using Twitter.

RN, I'm struggling with contradicting thoughts: (1) quit Mastodon because I'm unable to control myself and (2), stay here, where I'm feeling a lot better, and where I'm learning so much things, at the expense of what I have to do IRL.

Addiction @jovian if this is an addiction, wouldn’t it better to see if you could just get less and less screen time rather than make a big change like that ?
In my experience, if I try to stop, I compensate somewhere else and it can get ugly …

Addiction @tournesol I wasn't sure for the "Addiction" tag, I used it just in case.

That's a good idea, but I don't know how do do it properly. Even with browser extension like Leechblock (on my computers) and time-blocking app on my Android, I always end up by deactivating them all

@jovian honestly, I don’t really know ?
The only thing I know I have some control over, is habits. Like to quit Twitter, I’ve put Mastodon at the same place I used to get to twitter.

@tournesol Hey, maybe try something along the lines of a "consecrated time"? I'll check it out!
