It did not take long for the spammers to figure out how to set up shop on #Firefish instances. The moderation tools are a bit clunky (even worse that mastodon) - hopefully that improves soon
@kainoa@deltatux I do have hcaptcha enabled - I think these may be coming from actual people. I have the same set creating accounts and posts on infosec.exchange running mastodon. The ability to much more easily suspend accounts and remove posts, along with seeing the context of reported posts is important on larger instances.
@kainoa@deltatux I don't think I've had many reports come through in firefish yet - though I had a bunch of spammers that set up shop over night that I had to deal with. My experience with Mastodon is that the reported posts come in without much context and it's not possible to get that context without leaving the page - which isn't a big deal on a desktop, but most of my moderating is done from my phone. So, it might indeed be fine in firefish. I was mostly frustrated that I had to type in the name of a dozen accounts to suspend each one.
@kainoa The problem I had is that to suspend an account, I had to go to Control Panel > Users find the account and open it Click the 3 dots button go to "about" on the pop-up menu Click the shield icon Slide the "suspend" indicator. Go back to the timeline Realize that the account is suspended, but their posts are still there. Go back to the account Select "delete account" Get prompted to type in the name of the account to confirm the deletion
I think if suspending an account removed or hid their posts, it might work better (for me at least)
