@box464 From my personal experience, having learnt and used Kubernetes over the last few years at work and looked at the containerization ecosystem at home too, I don't think Docker as a company will die, but it probably won't be the first pick containerization engine in the future.
Docker has paved the way, but now there are standards built on top (the OCI specifications) and Docker Inc. is a for-profit company that now has to compete with free options, so they are focusing on enterprise customers.

Kubernetes is a large beast that is designed for very large scale architectures, but there are some lightweight distributions that take care of a lot of the heavy machinery, and you can comfortably manage your resources by learning about 5-6 types of Kubernetes resources that are fairly similar to Docker Compose.
I personally think it's a good thing to learn at least the basics of Kubernetes, if you already know Docker Compose or are familiar with Cloud computing architecture, it has a lot of similar concepts.

Hmm, je crois que les interactions avec les gens qui nous ont bloqué sont trop strictes sur Iceshrimp.NET, je ne peux rien faire qui contienne le @ même pas éditer mes propres notes, que je ne peux même pas voir (et j'ai trouvé un bug qui m'empêche de fermer la création de note)

@fediversereport The option of having a shared institution take care of watermarking verification makes me think that it could be handled like HTTPS (partially), where there are a handful of providers taking care of most of the certificates (Let's Encrypt and GlobalSign together handle around 90% of the SSL certificate authority market share), so they could provide inference providers with the private keys and keep a register, and become a verification authority too. We could have a few trusted authorities that can be their own entities or can be created as the result of a coordination effort from different companies. We could then have a signature similar to what we get with HTTPS, along the lines of "Generated by Anthropic (validated by SynthAuthority)".

@tournesol Franchement en y regardant maintenant, l'objectif était clair : ils ont vu le potentiel comme dataset pour leurs IA et se sont dit que ça pouvait aussi se vendre comme étant les bons gars qui supportent la décentralisation, qui a été un point de contention avec l'Union Européenne aussi... D'une pierre 3 coups.

@snowdrop I'd use an approach similar to messaging apps, making it a known pattern for users so easy to adopt: after selecting the picture, give the user a choice to upload it as HD or not, the HD option uses PNG and the not HD uses a JPG around 80-90% quality.
