I am an apprentice fencing trainer, doing mostly epee and foil. Currently in this sport for ~15 years.
I'm also training in para-fencing and adapted physical activity since I'm disabled myself.
Intersectionality, free Palestine and stuff. Out of my job I'm advocacing for disabled and LGBT+ rights.
I aspire to become an inclusive teacher, fighting oppressions going in my sport and environnement, for a brighter future for my students and women, children, LGBT+ and POC in sports.
Taught foil all day for my apprenticeship but I am much better in epee. It was very stressfull, with the master and the parents looking at all I do, while I had to manage the time, adapt to different ages and group... I'm exhausted. โ:blobcat_sleepless:โ
"You've been a #fencer for ~15 years and you're still learning something ???" Yes, and I'll continue to learn until I'm dead or retired. If after fifteen years in any #sport you have the feeling you have nothing more to learn, nothing to improve again and again, you should change something. Switch class, have a new teacher, doing something different in your sport, take a good look at yourself... it's up to you ! (And if nobody told you so, maybe your #trainer just gave up on you or on their interest for their sport, saddly it happens sometimes. โ:sadcat:โ)
Lately, I haven't done much more than go to my physical therapy sessions. I sure did some progress in such a short amount of time but it's frustrating to not be able to push my attacks as far as I need (I went back to the #fencing hall this week). The apprenticeship starts on Monday and we have fencing training almost all days. I am not truly confident about my ability to handle all this workload... โ:blobcat_nervous:โ
I'm seriously considering to subscribe to a gym club. It would be helpfull for my knee to do some biking but roads around my living place aren't really built for bikes, and I could do physio almost everyday, because for the moment I only do it twice a week.
The fencing hall will open around mid august and I'll see the physiotherapist monday, I hope that I could go back to training as soon as possible โ:meow_nervous_sweat:โ
I am not in my prime since I fell into depression, and every injury accentuate my struggle to get back to my best shape. Lately my mental health is improving and I am healing from depression but get my level fencing & physical condition back is HARD.
